Minneapolis Monster Jam Recap: Son-Uva Digger and Monster Magic Win Big.
It was 13 long months since monsters last invaded the Minneapolis Metrodome, and it was worth the wait. A Son’s Dream – The Backdraft Monster Truck
(Story By: Fred Disharoon)
In the quaint little bi-state railroading community of Delmar, Maryland is where a dream began. On 203 Pine St. in Delmar, Maryland was the home of the Disharoons, a family deeply involved in the community. The family consisted of father, mother, and two siblings. Both the father and mother had great interest in the growth of Delmar and were involved heavily. The father was mayor and president of the fire department, and the mother held equal responsibilities on local government commissions and president of the fire department auxiliary. With these interests, naturally the little Dishaoon’s were in the background, forming their future. The son followed the father to the firehouse daily, as that is where the father spent much of his off time. There was a white dog with black spots, Ringo, that followed them. With this type of environment, you can imagine what was going through a little boy’s mind. The red fire trucks were exciting and the alarm when it sounded would never go away.
Mid-week Action with Monster Events in Gaithersburg
The For the first time ever the Monster Events tour stopped in Gaithersburg, Maryland for two mid-week shows at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. Wednesday saw Zane Rettew in the Stinger tail plant his way to victory in the wheelie contest, Jay Snyder and the Illuminator edging out Jon Zimmer and the Amsoil Shock Therapy for the racing win, Zimmer returned with a great freestyle win, while Larry Quick and the Ghost Ryder closed out the night with a wild backflip.
Thursday saw similar results as Rettew repeated in the wheelie contest. Racing saw a final round rematch, with Zimmer getting the better of Snyder for the racing win. In freestyle, Zimmer put on a clinic with a stellar freestyle performance from the Amsoil Shock Therapy. Quick and the Ghost Ryder tried to overcome adversity and perform a backflip on a rain slicked ramp, coming up shy of the needed rotation.
